The future world is at peace.
Ella Shepherd has dedicated her life to using her unique gift—the ability to enter people’s dreams and memories using technology developed by her mother—to help others relive their happy memories.
But not all is at it seems.
Ella starts seeing impossible things—images of her dead father, warnings of who she cannot trust. Her government recruits her to spy on a rebel group, using her ability to experience—and influence—the memories of traitors. But the leader of the rebels claims they used to be in love—even though Ella’s never met him before in her life. Which can only mean one thing…
Someone’s altered her memory.
Ella’s gift is enough to overthrow a corrupt government or crush a growing rebel group. She is the key to stopping a war she didn’t even know was happening. But if someone else has been inside Ella’s head, she cannot trust her own memories, thoughts, or feelings.
So who can she trust?

Plot: ★★★★.5
BETH REVIS YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN. What I love about Beth Revis’ books is that they suck you in straight away. The Body Electric takes place in the 2300’s on Earth in the World’s capital city, New Venice in Malta. There have been dozens of wars, which have resulted in the creation of the Unified Countries, a government system that has provided the world with peace. OR SO THEY THINK. It follows a local girl called Ella as she pieces together strange events, like meeting a guy who claims they were in love when she has no memory of him and her hallucinations she’s been having of her dead father. Like Revis’ other works, you won’t be disappointed in regards to the amount of shocking twists and turns and her beautiful execution of a futuristic world.

Characters: ★★★★★
I always love Beth Revis’ characters because they’re so real and relatable, even though their circumstances usually aren’t. These characters were no exception. I was blown away by how immediately I loved Ella and Jack and felt like they were real.

Writing: ★★★★★
Again, like her other work, her writing is always beautiful and her world is excellently crafted. What I love the most about her writing is that I can always vividly picture her worlds and they’re always so different to ours and I love that. It’s always so exciting to have these new, futuristic places ingrained into your mind.

Romance/Feels: ★★★★
I wish there was a little more romance but I totally get why there isn’t. That’s not what this book is about. This book focuses on so many other issues that are deeper than what you would find in a fluffy romance book. The feels were there though, let me tell you!

Ending:
★★★★
I feel like the ending was a little abrupt. I was 10 pages from the end and thinking, ‘HOW IN THE WORLD IS THIS GOING TO END IN 10 PAGES WHAT”. I suppose I just wanted more. I want to know what happens now that the events in the novel are over. WHAT’S NEXT?

Overall Enjoyment:
★★★★.5
I always love Beth’s books and I had so much fun reading this one! The level of mystery and action kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I love your work so much Beth Revis and I will seriously buy anything you ever write!

Rereadability: Of course!

Final Rating: 4.5 stars to be precise!
